Secretary of State Rubio Cuts National Security Council in Half

| 0

Secretary of State Marco Rubio put more than 100 staffers for the National Security Council on administrative leave, cutting the NSC approximately in half.

Administrative leave is often a step in firing federal workers. The NSC had about 350 people before Rubio’s action. Dismissed staffers included career civil servants as well as political appointees, and got less than an hour to clear their desks. Civil servants normally cannot be simply fired at will. The White House believes NSC is full of people who do not agree with Donald Trump.

NSC advises the President on foreign policy and national security, and helps to coordinate policies across federal agencies.
