Perkins Coie Hires Top Firm Williams & Connolly to Fight DJT’s Targeting

Law firm Perkins Coie hired Williams & Connolly, a top DC law firm known for going head to head against the Department of Justice, to fight Donald Trump’s targeting of Perkins Coie client relationships.

On 6 March 2025, Trump signed an executive order forcing government contractors that have any relationship with the firm to disclose it and threatening to cancel their federal contracts. Trump suspended all Perkins Coie security clearances and banned them from entering federal buildings.

Perkins Coie advised Hillary Clinton during her Presidential campaign. The firm also hired Fusion GPS for opposition research, which produced the Steele dossier that said Trump’s campaign was closely linked with Russia.

Perkins Coie is the second big-name law firm retaliated against by Trump. He also targeted Covington & Burling, which worked with Jack Smith, the Special Counsel who investigated and brought criminal charges against Trump. Those charges were dropped when Trump became President again.
