The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which includes the National Weather Service, is losing another 1000 of its workers to mass firings, after which about 1 in 4 of its workforce will have been tossed out so far this year.

NOAA provides life-preserving services including but not limited to weather forecasts, storm and flood warnings, hurricane tracking and predictions, climate monitoring, tsunami warnings and fishery oversight. NOAA was already understaffed before mass firings began.
