Department of Education Fires 1300 Workers

| 0

The Department of Education is firing 1300 of its employees as part of Donald Trump’s quest to eliminate the department.

After these firings, termination of probationary employees and a buyout program, the department’s workforce will be down to 4100 people. The department is also cancelling leases on buildings at New York, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland and other cities.

While it continues to exist, the department remains responsible for distributing federal aid to schools, managing student loans and overseeing Pell Grants.
