Musk’s Starlink Moves to Take Over $2 billion Verizon Contract with FAA

Elon Musk’s Starlink installed terminals at some Federal Aviation Administration facilities in a first step toward taking over Verizon’s $2 billion contract to provide communications for the agency.

Verizon’s 15 year contract, begun in 2023, is to update part of the FAA’s communications network to a more modern standard relying on fiber optic cables. So far work costing $200 million has been done. Verizon says it is unaware of any plans to amend its contract.

Donald Trump granted ethics waivers to software developers Ted Malaska, Brady Glantz and Thomas Kiernan who are working for the federal government and came from SpaceX, another of Elon Musk’s companies. The waivers allow them to work on government projects that benefit Musk’s businesses.
