Musk Begins to Fall Out with DJT about the Federal Budget

On his social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Elon Musk posted, “I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.”

Donald Trump’s budget-busting, deficit-exploding, reverse Robin Hood budget package passed recently in the House and is now in the Senate, where even some Republican Senators find it hard to support.

The Congressional Budget Office calculates it would add $2.4 trillion to the federal deficit over the next ten years, cutting services for most Americans to extend or deepen tax breaks for the wealthy and ultimately transferring wealth from most of the population to the richest.

It would cause a $3.7 trillion reduction in tax revenue by renewing the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and expanding tax deductions. It would partially compensate through $1.3 trillion in cuts to federal spending, heavily targeted on Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. An estimated 10.9 million people would lose health care coverage. Comparatively small sweeteners in the bill appear to be meant to make it more palatable to voters and divert attention from deep cuts that will hurt tens of millions, such as no longer taxing tips ($39 billion) and not taxing overtime pay ($124 billion).

Unsurprisingly, Trump hated the CBO report and immediately attacked it.
