Maryland Passes Law to Restrict ICE

Both houses of the Maryland legislature passed a bill to constrain operations by federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the state. It now goes to Governor Wes Moore for signature.

The law bars ICE agents from going into such places as schools, libraries, and churches unless they present a judicial (not administrative) warrant. Places of the types given some shielding by this law are often regarded by the public as sanctuaries in which immigration raids are outrageous.
