Labor Unions Sue to Block DOGE Access to Sensitive Labor Department Data

| 0

Several labor unions banded together in a lawsuit seeking to block illegal access by Elon Musk’s DOGE team, an “advisory” subset of a White House IT team, to sensitive data held by the Department of Labor.

It was filed at federal District Court for the District of Columbia. The lawsuit relies on the Privacy Act and the Administrative Procedures Act. It also points out that Musk stands to personally benefit from access to DOL data through his business interests.

As an example, Occupational Safety and Health Administration within the DOL has investigated and fined Musk’s companies Tesla and SpaceX for multiple safety failures. Access to DOL data would allow Musk to identify confidential informants, enabling him to retaliate against them.
