Judge Blocks DJT Order that Would Penalize Law Firm Susman Godfrey

| 0

Federal District Court Judge Loren AliKhan issued a temporary restraining order blocking Donald Trump from enforcing an executive order he issued against the law firm Susman Godfrey to bar it from federal buildings, strip its federal contracts and suspend its security clearances.

AliKhan said Trump’s regime failed to support claims made in Trump’s executive order, and Susman Godfrey showed its claims that the order is unconstitutional are likely to succeed. The firm cites free speech and due process grounds.

AliKhan called the EO a “shocking abuse of power” driven by a “personal vendetta.” She said admires “Susman for standing up and challenging” Trump. She expressed concern that some other firms are “capitulating.”

With this order, all four of the major law firms that chose to fight back in court after Trump’s EOs against them have won at least temporary relief in court. The others are Perkins Coie, Jenner & Block and WilmerHale.
