Judge Blocks Dismantling of CFPB

Federal District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson issued a preliminary injunction to keep the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau operating while she considers a lawsuit to prevent Donald Trump’s demolition of the agency.

Last month Donald Trump fired CFPB’s director and ordered its staff to stop working. The Trump regime also canceled $100 million in contracts. CFPB was created as a watchdog on behalf of consumers after the 2008 financial crisis. It has recovered more than $21 billion for Americans who were defrauded.

Jackson ordered CFPB to continue its hotline for consumer complaints and provide means for employees to work, remotely or in the office.
