Jenner & Block Sues Against DJT Order Targeting Them
Jenner & Block, a “big law” firm, filed a lawsuit against Donald Trump’s executive order targeting them.
Trump is trying to revoke their attorneys’ security clearances and close down their ability to do business with the government. The firm says he is retaliating against them for their work in the past for past clients or causes he dislikes.
The lawsuit, filed on their behalf by Cooley LLP, says Trump seeks to “punish citizens and lawyers based on the clients they represent, the positions they advocate, the opinions they voice, and the people with whom they associate.”
The executive order against their firm zeroed in on Andrew Weissmann, who has not been at the firm since 2021, who was involved in investigation of Trump’s connections with Russia during the 2016 election campaign. Weissmann was a legal analyst on MSNBC regarding Trump’s criminal cases and has been publicly critical of Trump.
