Iran Fires Missiles at USA Bases in Retaliation for USA Strike at Its Nuclear Facilities

| 0

Iran fired missiles at a USA military base in Qatar in a calibrated proportionate response to the USA’s stealth strike on three Iranian nuclear facilities.

Iran had already moved its nuclear materials and some equipment out of those sites. In its response, it gave advance warning and no deaths or injuries from its strikes were reported. It has done such responses before as a way of demonstrating that it can retaliate, and could do so more strongly but has chosen not to further escalate the situation.

The facility targeted was Al-Udeid in Qatar, the largest USA military base in the Middle East. The number of missiles involved was unclear, with reports ranging from six to nineteen. All were intercepted.

Some countries in the region, including Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait, temporarily closed their air space. Iran also fired missiles at USA military bases in each of those three countries, which did not get as much news coverage as the targeting of Al-Udeid.
