Hegseth Removes Security Detail & Security Clearance from Mark Milley

| 0

Newly confirmed Secretary of Defense Peter Hegseth revoked security clearance and removed the security detail from General Mark Milley, who was Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Donald Trump’s first term as President.

Hegseth also ordered the Inspector General for the DOD to review Milley’s military grade (rank).

In June 2021, reportedly with support from former Attorney General Bill Barr, Milley rejected Trump’s attempt to make him order the military to act against domestic protesters. Trump has suggested that Milley should be executed. President Biden issued a preemptive pardon to Milley at the end of his term of office to protect him against retribution by Trump through the federal legal system.
