Finland-Estonia Electricity Cable Sabotaged

| 0

An underwater electricity cable between Finland and Estonia was damaged on Christmas Day. Two communications cables were also cut. The ship suspected of dragging its anchor 60 miles to commit this sabotage is suspected to be part of Russia’s “shadow fleet.”

Estonia plans to change its power grid this coming spring to connect with a central European network in place of the Russian network with which it has been connected.

This incident is part of a series of suspected sabotage episodes affecting European nations.
