Federal Judges Tell Congress They Need More Protection

| 0

Federal judges warned Congress that they need more resources allocated to protect their security from escalating threats and efforts to intimidate them.

Such activities are stoked by Donald Trump, his senior aide Stephen Miller and billionaire Elon Musk. They rage at judges whose rulings impede their wishes, calling for impeachment and stirring followers to take up this rage through personal attacks against judges in social media.

Although about 50 people have been criminally charged for some types of security threats against the judiciary, law enforcement has not made any arrests so far regarding hundreds of unwanted pizza deliveries to judges and their children at home.

Federal District Judge Esther Salas said the most recent deliveries related to her in the past week were in the name of her late son Daniel Anderl. He was shot to death at home by an angry lawyer in 2020.

She said the message behind the pizza delivery could not be missed: “I know where you live, I know where your kids live, and do you want to end up like Judge Salas. Do you want to end up like her son?”
