FDA Suspends Quality Testing for Milk and Dairy Products

In the wake of mass firings throughout the Department of Health and Human Services, the Food and Drug Administration suspended its quality testing of milk and dairy products due to lack of staff.

The mass firings were done at the behest of Elon Musk’s “Department of Government Efficiency,” a subset of a White House IT team rather than a government department.

This comes after the DOGE-driven staff cuts forced the FDA to halt its efforts to improve testing for bird flu in milk, cheese and pet food, and after the FDA suspends safety checks of food in general.

The suspended program normally performs proficiency testing program for Grade “A” raw milk, which has the highest sanitary standards, and finished products.
FDA’s Division of Dairy Safety sent email to “Network Laboratories” to announce this, saying FDA’s Moffett Center Proficiency Testing Laboratory in its food safety division “is no longer able to provide laboratory support for proficiency testing and data analysis.”
FDA proficiency testing programs are intended to keep food safety laboratories across the country consistent and accurate.
