Elon Musk Accuses Mexican Rival of Drug Cartel Ties

Without evidence, Elon Musk used his social media platform X to accuse rival Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim of ties to Mexican drug cartels.

Musk went on to say that because Slim is the largest shareholder in the New York Times, the newspaper support Slim’s business partners and interests. Slim owns 8% of NYT shares. Experts say this does not give him much influence on the news outlet.

Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum rejected Musk’s attacks on both Slim and Mexico.
