DOJ Opens Investigation into NYC Shelters for Migrants and the Homeless

| 0

The Department of Justice sent subpoenas to at least three New York City hotels for an investigation into shelters for immigrants.

The subpoenas seek names, dates of birth and other personal data about immigrants at:

  • Roosevelt Hotel, which functions as a migrant intake center but is being cleared out and closed
  • Stewart Hotel, which provides shelter to migrants
  • Row NYC, which provides shelter to migrants
  • former Chandler Hotel, which provides shelter for homeless people

The subpoena to the Chandler Hotel may have been an error. It is not a shelter for immigrants. The Candler Building on West 42nd Street has provided shelter for immigrants.

No subpoena about this has been issued to New York City.
