DOGE Gets Access to Justice Department Data About Immigrants

| 0

Elon Musk’s “Department of Government Efficiency” got permission from the Department of Justice to access a sensitive data system that details the interactions of immigrants with the federal government.

DOGE is a subset of a White House IT team, not a government department.

Executive Office for Immigration Review’s Courts and Appeals System has data from at least the 1990s about millions of immigrants, both documented and undocumented. DOGE is pursuing such data from multiple agencies, which its joint project with Palantir aims to use to track down immigrants. This data it has gotten access to will be used along with data from the Internal Revenue Service, Labor Department and Department of Housing and Urban Development. DOGE is trying to add Social Security data to its master database.

This latest addition from the Justice Department includes addresses, case histories, testimony from courts, and asylum seekers’ confidential interviews.
