DJT Threatens to Jail or Deport Protesters and Withhold Federal Funds from Educational Institutions Where Protests Occur

Donald Trump announced on his social media network Truth Social, “All Federal Funding will STOP for any College, School, or University that allows illegal protests. Agitators will be imprisoned/or permanently sent back to the country from which they came. American students will be permanently expelled or, depending on on the crime, arrested. NO MASKS!”

Protesting is a time-honored exercise of freedom of speech under the First Amendment to the Constitution.

The regime singled out Columbia University first due to pro-Gaza protests there in 2024, which included a large encampment and occupation of a university building and kindled other protests across the country. The regime wants to halt $50 million in grants and contracts with the university.
