DJT Tells El Salvador He Wants to Rendition Citizens There

On a lapel microphone worn by El Salvador President Nayib Bukele, Donald Trump audibly told him as they walked into the Oval Office that he wants to rendition USA citizens to El Salvador and Bukele accepted.

Trump could be heard saying, “We want to do homegrown criminals next…. The homegrowns. You gotta build about five more places.” The notorious CECOT prison in El Salvador can take up to 40,000 inmates.

Bukele replied, “Yeah, we’ve got space.”

People waiting for them in the Oval Office heard the exchange and laughed. They included Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Attorney General Pam Bondi.

Successful defiance of District Court and Supreme Court orders to retrieve anyone from CECOT is essential for Trump’s plan to disappear USA citizens there.

Timothy Snyder, expert on authoritarianism and author of the book On Tyranny, explained:

“On the White House’s theory, if they abduct you, get you on a helicopter, get to international waters, shoot you in the head, and drop your corpse into the ocean, that is legal, because it is the conduct of foreign affairs.” He said Trump’s plan is comparable to Nazis rendering Jews stateless, noting “[i]t is easier to move people away from law than it is to move law away from people. Almost all of the killing took place in artificially created stateless zones.”
