DJT Puts All Federal DEI Workers on Admin Leave Pending Terminations

Donald Trump signed an executive order to put all federal workers in diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs on paid administrative leave, pending termination of the programs and widespread firings.

Trump called for the end of all such programs. Within 120 days, he requires the USA Attorney General to make recommendations for encouraging private businesses to end their DEI programs. He revoked an executive order by former President Lyndon B Johnson which banned federal contractors from discrimination in hiring on the basis of race, colour, religion, sex or national origin.

The order was signed 22 January 2025 with putting workers on leave to take effect by 17:00 the following day.
