DJT Pauses $175 million in Federal Funds for Univ. of Pennsylvania
Donald Trump’s regime paused $175 million in federal funding for University of Pennsylvania, especially from the Department of Defense and from Health and Human Services.
The funding freeze is reportedly due to the university’s inclusion of transgender athletes in women’s sports. The university said it had not received any notification of the funding pause.
A White House official was quoted saying this is “just a taste of what could be coming down the pipe for Penn, a proactive punishment from the president to pull back discretionary spending going to the school” and the university is “still at risk of losing all its federal funding as a result of the ongoing Title IX investigation.”
In 2024, the university received about $1 billion in federal funds.
