DJT Issues Executive Orders Reviving Anti-Abortion Measures Nationally and Abroad

After his prerecorded address to the March for Life, Donald Trump signed two executive orders reinstating anti-abortion measures nationally and abroad from his first term as President, and rescinded two of Biden’s orders protecting women’s reproductive health services.

One Trump order rescinds two Biden EOs that encouraged government agencies to find ways to “to protect and expand access to abortion care, including medication abortion” and “the full range of reproductive healthcare services,” which included birth control and emergency contraception.

Another reinstates restrictions on foreign organizations that get USA international health funds. Such organizations are not allowed to provide or promote abortion, even using other funding sources to do so.

The National Academy of Sciences estimates that Trump’s similar restrictions during his first Presidential term led to the deaths of 108,000 women and children in poor countries.

Additionally, Trump rescinded two orders signed by Biden in 2022 after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade. One of the rescinded orders sought to widen access to emergency contraception, protect mobile women’s health clinics near the borders of states where abortion is banned, and defend women’s data such as menstrual cycle tracking and geolocation against digital surveillance. The other rescinded order sought to help women travel across state lines to get abortion services.
