DJT Blocks Key Step in NIH Research Funding

| 0

Donald Trump’s regime blocked a key step in the awarding of NIH grant funds, flouting a federal District Judge’s temporary restraining order to lift freezes on federal funding.

NIH is required to submit to the Federal Register 15 days in advance meetings for scientists to peer review NIH grant funding proposals. These meetings are a necessary step in the grant process.

Federal District Court Judge John McConnell has twice ordered Trump to lift his freeze of nearly all federal funding flows. After finding that Trump was not obeying the first order, McConnell expanded the scope of his second order to include keeping administrative, operational or technical hurdles to implementation cleared.

Not allowing NIH to follow required procedures for grant funding appears to violate the current judicial order.
