CREW Writes to National Archives about Possibly Illegal DOJ Removal of January 6 Files from Website

| 0

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) wrote to National Archives and Department of Justice’s Inspector General about the DOJ’s removal from its website of details of criminal charges and convictions pertinent to the 6 January 2021 attack on the national Capitol.

CREW believes this deletion violates 44 U.S.C. § 3106, a law requiring federal agencies to notify the National Archives and Records Administration about removal or deletion of federal records. The removal appears to have been done without notice to anyone. CREW asked that the situation be investigated and appropriate action taken to rectify any violation of law that may have occurred.

Michael Horowitz, IG for the DOJ, was spared from the “Friday Night Massacre” firing without notice of 17 IGs so he is in office to respond to the letter on behalf of the DOJ.
