CREW Sues to Compel DOGE Compliance with Federal Records and Transparency Laws

| 0

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington sued to compel Elon Musk’s “Department of Government Efficiency” to comply with laws pertaining to retention and disclosure of government document, and requested release of U.S. DOGE Service no later than 10 March 2025.

DOGE, more formally USDS, is a subset of a While House IT team, not a government department.

So far USDS, its administrator, Elon Musk, Office of Management and Budget and OMB Director Russell Vought, National Archives, and Acting Archivist Marco Rubio have not complied with CREW’s requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act. It is also not clear whether DOGE is preserving its records in compliance with the Federal Records Act.

CREW therefore seeks intervention by the court to make DOGE comply with FRA and FOIA.
