CISA Puts on Leave Staff Who Protect Elections Against Foreign Influence and Disinformation

| 0

Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency put on administrative leave 17 staffers whose work defends elections at all levels against foreign influence, attacks, disinformation and misinformation.

The staffers put on leave focus on helping to secure elections at the state and local level. A few special elections for seats in the House of Representatives are coming up, which could flip control of the House if won by Democrats, and numerous state and local elections are due this year also.

All election security work by CISA is halted for review. All funding is cut off for election security by the Department of Homeland Security’s Elections Infrastructure Information Sharing and Analysis Center, a coordinating center for the elections administration community.

CISA is relatively young but is heavily relied upon by state and local election officials.
