| 0

China announced that as of 10 April 2025, it will impose a tariff of 34% on all goods coming to it from the USA, matching the USA’s newest tariff on goods from China.

China also announced more export controls on rare earths that are essential for the manufacture of semiconductor chips, electric batteries and other technological items. Minerals affected by the new restrictions are samarium, gadolinium, terbium, dysprosium, lutetium, scandium, and yttrium. They are especially vital for electric cars and military equipment, but have a wide range of uses. Samarium and its compounds are used in aerospace and defense. Gadolinium is used to perform MRI scans with contrast.

China added 27 companies to its list of businesses subject to export controls or trade sanctions.

Last but not least, China filed a lawsuit about Trump’s tariffs with the World Trade Organization.
