CFPB Terminates Contractors and Probationary Employees

| 0

The Consumer Finance Protection Bureau fired dozens of contractors and probationary federal employees (in their jobs less than two years) after normal work hours.

The termination email to some contained only a template that had not been filled in with details such as their names or roles.

Starting Friday 7 February 2025, Elon Musk’s DOGE, a subset of a White House IT team, bypassed protocols and began dismantling CFPB’s online presence and disrupting its IT systems.

The same day, newly appointed OMB Director Russell Vought took over CFPB as its acting administrator. The following day, Vought began halting CFPB work, including enforcement actions and progress on regulations that would affect payment systems such as the one an Elon Musk company is developing with Visa.
