Biden Commutes 37 of 40 Federal Death Sentences

President Joe Biden commuted the sentences of 37 of the 40 people with federal death sentences. This changes their sentences to life in prison. It thwarts incoming successor Donald Trump’s announced intention to escalate the pace of federal executions.
