Australia Re-elects Labor PM Albanese in a Landslide

Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese of the Labor party won re-election in a surprise landslide over challenger Peter Dutton of the conservative Liberal-National coalition.

Dutton also lost the MP seat he held for 24 years.

At the start of the year, Dutton looked triumphant and polls showed Albanese with record low popularity. But Dutton ran a highly Trumpian campaign. The parallels between himself and Donald Trump did not sit well with voters.
