AP Blocked from White House Event in Defiance of Court Order

| 0

The Associated Press was barred from the Oval Office meeting of Donald Trump and El Salvador President Nayib Bukele with other reporters, despite a court order requiring the White House to rescind its restrictions on AP access as a member of the press pool.

Also, for an event on the White House lawn honoring Ohio State University’s championship football team, two AP photographers were allowed but AP’s reporter was barred.

On 9 April 2025, federal District Court Judge Trevor McFadden issued a preliminary injunction prohibiting the federal government from restricting AP’s access to media events and Air Force One. Restrictions were imposed after Donald Trump became angry that AP did not revise its internationally utilized style guide to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America.

Continuing to restrict AP access clearly defies the court order.
