Warrantless ICE Agents Smash Car Window to Take Mother Away

News broke that on 31 March 2025, warrantless Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents surrounded a car, smashed a window to get in and took Elsy Noemi Berrios while her daughter Karen Cruz Berrios objected and took video of the capture.

ICE agents had gone to the family home in Westminster, Maryland, twice previously. They had no warrant and were turned away. Elsy is an undocumented immigrant.

The two women were on their way to work as seamstresses. The agents surrounded their parked car and shouted, mostly in Spanish, telling the mother to get out of the car. When she did not, an agent smashed a car window, unlocked the door, took the mother out of the car, handcuffed her despite no resistance, and took her away.
