Ontario, Canada, Cancels $100 million Starlink Contract

| 0

The Canadian province of Ontario cancelled its $100 million contract with Elon Musk’s satellite communications company Starlink.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced this in response to Donald Trump’s tariffs on Canadian products imported into the USA. Ford also banned USA businesses from bidding on government contracts for the province.

The contract was signed last year to provide satellite internet access for 15,000 remote homes and businesses in the province, especially in the north. Cancellation does not affect users who have already subscribed to Starlink under the contract. For further rollout, Ontario is looking for Canadian alternatives.
