NY Shields Identities of Doctors Who Prescribe Abortion Pills

New York Governor Kathy Hochul signed a law to shield the identities of doctors who prescribe abortion medication.

This law comes days after the State of Louisiana sued New York doctor Margaret Carpenter for prescribing abortion pills to a pregnant patient in Louisiana. Authorities there learned the doctor’s name from the label on the medication.

Hochul says she will not sign an extradition request to send Carpenter to Louisiana. She intends to pursue another new law to require pharmacists to honor doctors’ requests to omit their names from prescription labels.
