Newark Mayor Baraka Released

Ras Baraka, the Mayor of Newark, New Jersey, was released several hours after being arrested for allegedly trespassing at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center.

Baraka had been allowed into a fenced parking lot, then had been told to leave. Video showed he was on public property outside the gate when agents swarmed around him, herded him back inside the gate and arrested him.

ICE has been accused of operating the center without proper permits and in possible contravention of state and local law.
