Los Angeles Schools Turned Away Immigration Agents

| 0

During the week two Los Angeles elementary schools refused entry for federal immigration agents who were seeking five students in first through sixth grades.

Los Angeles Unified is a sanctuary district. It does not cooperate with federal immigration agents. In January, guidelines were rescinded that had kept agents from entering “sensitive areas” such as churches and schools.

The agents claimed to want to see the “students to determine their well-being” because they were unaccompanied minors. They said the students’ caretakers had authorized them to do so. When the district checked with the caretakers later, it learned the agents had lied.
