Lawsuit Filed to Compel U.S. Marshals Service to Release Information

Democracy Forward filed a lawsuit to compel the U.S. Marshals Service to release records of any communications between it and Elon Musk’s “Department of Government Efficiency” as well as judges involved in January 6th insurrection cases.

DOGE is a subset of a White House IT team, not a government department. Reports have been emerging of potentially inappropriate use of USMS by DOGE. These include threats of using USMS to force access into agencies, deputization by USMS of Elon Musk’s private security personnel, and inappropriate communications by USMS with federal judges who are presiding over cases related to the January 6th insurrection.
