Former Congressional Rep. George Santos Sentenced to 7 Years

Republican former Congressional Representative George Santos was sentenced to 7 years after being convicted on multiple counts of wire fraud and identity theft. He must also pay more than half a million dollars, some of it restitution and some of it forfeitures.

He served less than a year as the House member for New York’s third Congressional district in 2023. Congress expelled him for ethics violations, making him only the sixth person ever expelled from the House. Since then he has become a podcaster.
