Federal Judge Temporarily Blocks DOGE from Treasury Systems

| 0

Federal District Court Judge Paul A. Engelmayer issued a temporary restraining order barring Elon Musk’s DOGE, a subset of a White House IT group, from access to Treasury Department records containing sensitive data.

The data involved includes Social Security for nearly all Americans and legal immigrants, and bank account numbers for millions of people. The payment systems involved disburse most federal expenditures, totaling trillions every year. Musk’s team breached the systems. Engelmayer further ordered that anyone who is prohibited from accessing the systems but who has done so since 20 January 2025 must immediately destroy all copies of any data they have downloaded.

The case was filed by 19 state Attorneys General in New York City. A hearing in the case is scheduled 14 February 2025.
