England & Scotland Start New Bird Flu Restrictions

| 0

Throughout England and Scotland, to combat (H5N1) avian flu it is now mandatory for domestic bird flocks to be kept indoors.

Cases have recently surged and transmission from wild to captive birds is deemed very high. In response, the current Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) is declared to cover all of England and Scotland. Strict biosecurity protocols apply in the zone, of which housing the birds indoors is only one element. Restrictions apply regardless of whether the birds kept are commercial flocks, a backyard flock or pets.
