DJT Tells Nearly 1 Million Immigrants Who Entered Legally to Leave or Be Forcibly Removed

Donald Trump terminated the temporary protected status of immigrants who entered the USA legally via the CBP One app. He said if they do not leave immediately, he will have them arrested and forcibly removed.

About 985,000 people used the Biden-era app to seek legal entry into the USA and receive temporary permission to remain for up to two years, which is called parole. Trump abruptly ended the program soon after he took office for his second term.

The app eventually restarted as the CBP Home App, which the Department of Homeland Security uses to keep track of and communicate with immigrants who came in through CBP One. DHS has not revealed how many such immigrants it has notified of this new order. If they do not leave quickly on their own, they can be arrested, fined and forcibly expelled from the country. They are ordered to leave, then use CBP Home to tell DHS that they have left. They will not be permitted to return to the USA.

Last week the government sent similar orders to “self-deport” to some f the 240,000 refugees who came into the USA through the Uniting for Ukraine program. Those notices were a mistake. That program and Operation Allies Welcome are not supposed to be included in the new expulsion order.
