DJT Revokes Punishments for Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Garrison & Wharton After It Promises $40 million in Free Legal Services for His Agenda

Donald Trump revoked his executive order that punished the law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Garrison & Wharton after the firm capitulated and offered concessions to him.

The EO focused on Mark Pomeranz, who used to be a lawyer with the firm and oversaw an investigation into Trump’s finances by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office. Punishment included suspending active security clearances of attorneys at Paul, Weiss and termination of all its federal contracts.

To escape such punishment, the firm will drop diversity, equity and inclusion from its hiring and promotion processes. It will give $40 million worth of legal services at no charge in support of Trump’s agenda. It also denounced Pomeranz.

The firm also removed immigration-related cases from the pro bono section of its website.
