DJT Publicly Affirms Elon Musk is the Head of DOGE

In his address to a joint session of Congress, Donald Trump confirmed that the “Department” of Government Efficiency “is headed by Elon Musk, who is in the gallery tonight.”

This is contrary to what the Department of Justice presented in court when a judge demanded to know who leads DOGE. The DOJ named Amy Gleason as the leader of DOGE. She was on vacation in Mexico and unaware of the announcement.

DOGE is a subset of a White House IT team, not a government department. It has been slashing budgets, cancelling contracts, withholding payments for work already done, and mass-firing federal workers. An increasing number of federal judges have been ruling that its actions have violated federal laws. Whoever is the leader of DOGE is responsible.
