DJT Orders Diversion of Water from North California

Donald Trump signed an executive order to make federal agencies route more water from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta to other parts of California.

Presumably the diverted water would feed the Metropolitan Water District for Los Angeles and 25 other South California cities and water districts which want the Delta Tunnel. The Los Angeles reservoirs that store water from the north for Los Angeles were full when the recent wildfires began, with water for firefighting constrained by delivery capacity rather than storage so diversion of more water from the north would have made no difference.

Water diversion would adversely affect farms in the southwestern San Joaquin Valley.
