DJT Gives Musk Sweeping Personnel Control and Operatives in Agencies
Donald Trump signed an executive order giving Elon Musk’s DOGE, a subset of a White House IT team, control of all federal firing and hiring, and an operative in every federal agency.
The EO stipulates that for every four federal employees fired, only one replacement can be hired.
The assignment of a DOGE oversight operative in every agency echoes a mechanism often used in Communist countries to maintain tight control.
The Department of Government Efficiency is organized as a subset of a White House IT team, not a federal department. Under the guise of reducing waste, in three weeks it has gutted nearly all federal oversight of Musk’s businesses. Members of Congress attempting to visit agencies in their role overseeing the executive branch have been kept out, in some instances by guards wearing uniforms that are not federal or law enforcement.
