Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Sues Experian

| 0

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) files suit against Experian, one of the nation’s three largest credit reporting agencies, for not properly investigating consumer disputes of information in their reports. CFPB says this results in inclusion of inaccurate or false information on credit reports, which can harm consumers’ access to credit, jobs and housing. CFPB described as “sham investigations” Experian’s response to consumer disputes of errors in their files. The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires credit reporting agencies to properly review such disputes and to make sure its credit reports are accurate.
