Charges Dropped Against Ximena Arias-Cristobal But Deportation Still Looms

| 0

Dalton Police Department admitted its traffic stop of Ximena Arias-Cristobal was a mistake and dropped charges against her, but Immigration and Customs Enforcement still intends to deport her and her family, including younger sisters who are USA citizens.

She is scheduled for a bond hearing 20 May 2025. She and her father, who was detained a couple of weeks before her, are at ICE’s Stewart Detention Center in George. The facility is privately operated by CoreCivic. The American Civil Liberties Union has accused it of violating due process and holding people in poor conditions.

Her parents brought her with them when they immigrated from Mexico without authorization 15 years ago, when she was 4 years old. Her only path to legitimate presence in the USA would be to marry a citizen and apply for a green card. DHS has deported green card holders with no criminal history.
