The more freely the virus can spread, the more chances it has to develop mutations, and the more likely it is for a new mutation to make it worse.
We just need to constrain our behavior a while longer until vaccination is available and can be spread around the world. We don’t have to spend eons this way. We only need to hold on and look forward to getting vaccinated. When it’s my turn, I’ll be there. I hope you will be too.

Although hamstringing the transition will make things harder for the Biden-Harris team, the GOP has miscalculated if they think it will be a fatal blow. The incoming team is phenomenally skilled and well organized. They’ll find ways to make do if they must.
For me, this Biden-Harris win means the concept of America is not dead. We have a chance to not only repair the damage, but improve the nation. We can make it a More Perfect Union. It won’t ever be complete. It is too audacious an experiment to ever be complete. At best, it will always be a work in progress. But that’s how it is meant to be. And the important thing now, for me, is that it has not been completely destroyed. It is alive and my heart is full.
Elections are important. We must not consider cutting any corners on the counting of votes. Every vote matters. Every vote must be counted before we can be sure of the outcome. Let’s be patient and collect all the data before drawing conclusions. It’s the sensible way forward.
If you are a COVID long-hauler, it’s important not to try to tough it out, not to try to push through. Many chronically ill people can tell you all about how doing that (such as “graded exercise” promoted by certain doctors) will make you more ill than you are now, and you may never be able to climb back to where you were when they got you to try it.

We can’t be stronger than Mother Nature. Sometimes she packs a wallop too big to fend off. But we can take steps to reduce the impact. And with the Gulf consistently so hot now, we’d better try.
Not everyone who rides it out is crazy. And Laura is not Rita. I can definitely understand if some people who would ordinarily evacuate decide that they are going to stay put unless there truly is no other option.
